DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- Just a few months after opening, a Detroit Lakes child care provider serving families with non-traditional hours already is looking to expand.
"Early Birds and Night Owls" child care opened in June .
It's designed to offer parents who work non-traditional jobs access to child care, with staff on site for overnight shifts and on the weekends.
It's been such a hit, they're already in the early stages of opening a second location, with the daycare's founder saying that speaks to the need for child care in lakes country.
"I always kind of wanted to have more than one location. I didn't think that I'd be starting the process for another location this fast," Callie Hill, owner of Early Birds and Night Owls, said.
Along with grant money, they're planning a pair of fundraisers to help raise money for a new location.
There will be a carnival at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes on Saturday, Sept. 28, and a fundraiser at the Perham Pizza Ranch on Monday, Sept. 30.
