Innovative consumption models ignite 'holiday economy' in China

Regions across China have created new consumption scenarios and business models to welcome an expected surge in consumer activities during the seven-day National Day holiday period from October 1 to 7.

In Jiangsu Province, more than 2,900 themed events and 629 consumer incentives have been launched as part of the "tourism +" concept, reported China Central Television. The Shishan market in Suzhou, for example, featured a vibrant mix of over 100 creative booths and stalls, showcasing the integration of tourism with sports, gourmet food and cultural products.

Meanwhile, in Shanghai, a brand-new riverside commercial street - offering light shows by the water and a retro roller skating experience - has officially opened, adding to the city's attraction.

Hangzhou has also embraced innovative consumption experiences. It is hosting an international baking culture festival along its lakeside pedestrian streets, featuring more than 30 Chinese brands, alongside the opening of an art tour by the French Lyon Theatre Troupe.

This year's National Day holiday holds particular significance, as it marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Patriotic themes have been at the forefront of the holiday celebrations with landmarks of national significance - such as the Shaoshan Scenic Area, Jinggang Mountain Scenic Area and Tiananmen Square - turning into hotspots for visitors.

The combination of cultural celebrations, innovative consumption scenarios and patriotic fervor are boosting the country's "holiday economy", turning China's National Day period into a vibrant blend of tradition, innovation and national pride.
