WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) - An Arkansas man has been arrested after an investigation by the Walton County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office Cyber Crimes Unit.
Thirty-six-year-old Aremon Wilkins of Jonesboro, Ark., faces charges after WCSO investigators said they learned he was soliciting a 10-year-old and sending pictures that were sexual in nature over a popular social media app. Authorities said he was the only adult recipient of materials sent by the Walton County.
According to the sheriff's office, the investigation began in June 2023 when the girl's mother discovered her daughter was exchanging child sexual abuse material with people the mother believed to be adult men.
Authorities said Wilkins was the only adult recipient of materials sent by the Walton County girl. Authorities were able to identify two other male juvenile subjects, investigators said.
Wilkins faces multiple charges including possession of child pornography, transmitting harmful material to a minor, solicitation of a minor, and unlawful use of two-way communication device.
U.S. Marshals arrested Wilkins Tuesday. He is awaiting extradition to Florida.
