Loveland business briefs for Sept. 22

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is accepting applications for the 2025 Torch Awards for Ethics and the Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship for Northern Colorado and Wyoming businesses and nonprofits.

The application process for both awards is open through Oct. 28, according to a news release.

The Torch Award for Ethics celebrates businesses and nonprofits that exemplify outstanding integrity, ethics, and trustworthiness in their daily operations, and is open to entities that have been in business for at least three years and maintain good standing with BBB. Nonprofits must meet BBB's 20 standards for charity accountability prior to applying.

The Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship honor emerging businesses that demonstrate a passion for their industry, creativity in their approach, and a commitment to community service. To be eligible, businesses must have been in operation for at least six months but not more than three years at the time of application, and must be in good standing with BBB.

Banner Health in Northern Colorado has been recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) after achieving recognition as an Age-Friendly Health System, earning Committed to Care Excellence status.

Over the last three months, Banner Health has collected data about the count of older adults who received a set of evidence-based elements of high-quality care, known as the 4Ms: what matters, medication, mentation and mobility, according to a news release.

Age-friendly health systems aim to: follow an essential set of evidence-based practices; cause no harm; align with what matters to the older adult and their family caregivers.

"Banner Health has always been committed to care excellence and is proud and humbled to have achieved this recognition," Victoria Cordova, director of behavioral health services for Banner Health in Northern Colorado, said in the release.

As of June 2024, more than 2,000 hospitals, practices, convenient care clinics, and nursing homes have been recognized as Age-Friendly Health Systems - Committed to Care Excellence.

Age-Friendly Health Systems is an initiative of The John A. Hartford Foundation and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, in partnership with the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the Catholic Health Association of the US (CHA).
