City of Rochester advises drivers of difficult road conditions through Sunday

ROCHESTER, Minn.-- Freezing drizzle has left roads in poor condition, and with temperatures expected to remain below freezing overnight, wet roads will refreeze.

The Public Works Department advises the public to expect challenging road conditions overnight and into Sunday. The department said nonessential travel should be avoided until midday.

The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory until 11 a.m. Sunday. Fog could further contribute to hazardous, slippery roads through Sunday morning.

Plows are actively working to treat the roadways. To assist plows, drivers are asked to move any vehicles off the street entirely or to the odd-numbered side before 2 a.m., when alternate side parking restrictions take effect. Improperly parked vehicles may delay the treatment of streets.

Rochester Public Transit (RPT) expects routes to begin as scheduled Sunday morning; however, delays and potential route suspensions are possible. Riders should use the Transit app to confirm the status of their bus.
