Proposed legislation to end the state's ban on nonprofit hospitals from holding a retail pharmacy license failed to make it through committee on Wednesday.
Senate Bill 58, sponsored by Sen. Jonathan Dismang, R-Searcy, sought to make it easier for patients to receive the full slate of drugs they may need before being discharged from the hospital.
While the bill was voted down in committee, Dismang said after the meeting he will bring the bill back up to vote at a later time, believing that he can get the votes to advance it through.
The bill failed to get a majority vote in the Senate Health, Welfare and Labor committee, garnering four votes in favor from the committee's eight members. Sens.
