SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) - A man was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 24, after being accused of killing a woman in a Salisbury parking lot on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Hermon Donald Floyd III, 44, was charged with first-degree murder and was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond. The victim's identity has not been released.
Police said around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, they responded to a parking lot along Statesville Boulevard for an assault in progress. When they arrived, they found a 57-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries consistent with assault.
Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.
As part of the investigation, on Thursday, around 5:15 p.m., police said they executed a search warrant at an apartment along Clancy Street after finding information linking Floyd to the residence.
There, authorities advised they located items inside that linked him to the homicide.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details are currently available.
