Rent-2-Own joins Lima community

Rent-2-Own joins Lima community

Jan. 23 -- LIMA -- Rent-2-Own just wants to help nice people own nice things.

Jacob Lowe, store manager of Lima's location, has settled in nicely at the former location of Shawnee Rentals at 742 W. North St., Lima.

Lowe has worked within the company since February 2024 and was recently promoted to lead Lima's new location since opening in October 2024.

Lima is becoming a special place for the Troy native and his team of five employees.

"I love this town," he said. "We've got to really explore the town. The people here are great."

Rent-2-Own was founded in 1985 in Hillsboro, Ohio, by Darrell Tissot. The Lima location marks the 42nd across Ohio and Kentucky.

Lowe expects growth in the store's customer base once the word is out.

"This is going to be a very large store eventually," Lowe said.

Being a staple in the community is a mission for Lowe. The grand opening of the store is scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, and the public is encouraged to attend for activities, games, good deals and giveaways.

"We'll do all kinds of stuff (for the grand opening)," he said. "It's about showing the community we're part of them and that we're here when they need us."

At Rent-2-Own, customers will find a variety of furniture, laundry appliances, gaming consoles and accessories, tools, tires, lamps, rugs and refrigerators, as well as a "Funky Finds" section.

The store offers free delivery, which is usually within 24 hours, free service, free setup, no long-term commitments, no large down payments and no interest.

If a product appears broken or a customer is unsatisfied with the quality, it will be taken care of.

"We're going to get it fixed," Lowe said.

Rent-2-Own offers 120-day same as cash, double what other places usually offer, Lowe said.

"We start out at 120 (days) and then as you're a customer for longer, we will get to a point where you're at the 200-day same as cash," he said.

Payment plans are available as needed, and if a customer cannot make a payment, the store provides alternative options, with taking the product back from the customer a last resort.

"Let's figure something out to keep you with this and not just take it back from you," Lowe said.

Customers have told Lowe that this effort and cooperation is what makes Rent-2-Own stand out compared to its competitors.
