Quentin Gibson's incredible season headlining the surprise Super 25 North Crowley Panthers

Quentin Gibson's incredible season headlining the surprise Super 25 North Crowley Panthers

With a 70-17 win over Rockwall on Thursday, the North Crowley Panthers have added more evidence to the argument that they are in the upper echelon of Texas high school football teams. Now 4-0 with wins over DeSoto and Guyer, the Panthers have started their season in a historic fashion.

Helping lead the way has been a wide receiver Quentin Gibson, who has had some pretty historic performances in his own right so far this year.

Over four games, Gibson has 589 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on 24 receptions. He scored four touchdowns in three of the games, according to North Crowley offensive coordinator Eli Reinhart.

Gibson has stood out when it matters most, amassing 251 receiving yards on six receptions against Guyer and then 180 yards on seven receptions with four touchdowns against DeSoto, which was ranked No. 4 in the nation ahead of that game. The stats listed on MaxPreps are slightly different than Reinhart's post on X.

Based on Reinhard's stats, if Gibson were to somehow continue this pace, he would finish with over 2,000 receiving yards and more than 50 touchdowns, if the team played a full 15-game season between the regular and postseason.

According to Dave Campbell's Texas Football, only eight times has a high schooler in the state have recorded 2,000+ yards in a season, and never has a receiver reached 40 touchdowns, let alone 50.

Sustainable? That's a lot to ask for. It would go down as one of the greatest individual seasons of all time. But a reminder: these games have come against some of the top teams in Texas. Gibson has played outplayed stellar competition.

Listed at 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds, Gibson does not have a ranking on 247Sports. The recruiting outlet reports 11 offers, including from TCU, Texas State and UTEP.
