2nd pedestrian killed on Route 1 in Chesterfield since Saturday

A pedestrian was killed Tuesday evening in the 7800 block of Route 1 in Chesterfield County.

The crash happened at 7:11 p.m. Police responded to a single-vehicle crash and found the person injured on the northbound side of the roadway, authorities said.

The pedestrian died at a hospital. Officials are waiting to notify the person's next of kin before releasing his or her name.

The motorist stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police, officials said.

It is the third fatal crash on Route 1 in Chesterfield County in a week. On Saturday, a 74-year-old pedestrian was killed near the intersection with Osborne Road. A cyclist died Thursday after being hit in the 9200 block of Route 1.
