May 7, 1943 - February 14, 2025

It was on May 7, 1943, that the Jacob and Olga (Schaefer) Vilhauer family of Highmore, SD, welcomed the arrival of Betty Jean in a Pierre, SD, hospital. It was on Valentine's Day 2025 Betty Jean was welcomed home by our Lord Jesus Christ after a very vigorous life shortened at age 81 by Lewy Body Dementia, a Parkinsonism. She passed away while residing with husband, Larry Dean Olson, at Meadowstone Senior Apartments, a division of Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls, SD.

Betty is survived by husband Larry of 61 years; sons Brett (Denise) of Pearland, TX, and Cory (Sally} of West St. Paul, MN; grandchildren Brittany (Dylan) Schaefer of Pearland, Nicole (Dillon) Reed of Friendswood, TX, Caleb (Abby) Olson of Rosharon, TX, Luke Weinberg of New Brighton, MN, and Cassandra Weinberg of Oakdale, MN; great-grandchildren Cole and Brady Schaefer, Bostyn and Emery Reed and Elise Olson; sister, Alta Roti of Sioux Falls; sisters-in-law, Arlene Vilhauer of Rapid City, SD, and Dorothy Olson of Hawarden, IA; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family welcoming Betty to heaven are parents Jacob and Olga Vilhauer; sisters Cuba Shaffer and Lillian Samuelsen; brother Elton (Jake) Vilhauer; and brother-in-law Leo Roti.

The family encourages memorials to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Parkinson's Foundation or to an organization of choice.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, with services beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, followed by a luncheon at 11 a.m., all at Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD. Graveside rites will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trondhjem Free Lutheran Church cemetery, 30060 448th Ave., Volin, SD.
