ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Manager Alex Cora confirmed he spoke with Major League Baseball and he indicated he won't face any suspension or fine for his comments Sunday when he alluded to the Red Sox intentionally throwing at Yankees star Aaron Judge.
MassLive's Chris Cotillo reported earlier Tuesday that the league will not suspend Cora.
"We're good," Cora said Tuesday here at Tropicana Field. "I mean, I'm here."
Asked if he donated to any charitable causes (via a fine), Cora said, "No."
The league investigated the matter Sunday and Monday.
On Sunday, Cora seemed to acknowledge that Red Sox starter Brayan Bello tried to hit Judge with a pitch in the sixth inning Saturday in retaliation for Gerrit Cole hitting Rafael Devers with a first-inning pitch the Sox believed to be intentional. With Judge leading off in the sixth, Bello threw a 97.4 mph behind him.
"(The matter) was closed yesterday, like around the sixth inning," Cora said Sunday morning. "We had our chance. It didn't happen. We have to move on."
