Williams reportedly has a sore toe that prevented him from participating in practice.

His injury is certainly a situation to monitor for a team that has lost several offensive starters already this season. Williams' absence from the team would be detrimental for the entire unit.

Running back Jordan Mason would have a difficult time generating any sort of run game and the pass protection for quarterback Brock Purdy would suffer with Williams out.

Deebo Samuel is also listed as questionable for San Francisco's Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots.

It's a must-win game for a 49ers team that was slated to be a Super Bowl favorite, yet has begun the season with a 1-2 record.

Williams finalized a reworked three-year, $82.66 million deal with the 49ers just days before the season opener. Since he missed all of training camp, he is still getting acclimated with the offense.

On the first Monday Night Football matchup of the season, Williams had to exit the game to get an IV in the fourth quarter.

"There's no way you can get in football shape without playing football," Williams said. "Not having that acclimation period, not having camp to kind of measure yourself. That's when you realize who you're going to be for that year, it's in camp. It was completely different. Luckily we had some IV's."

There were certainly some rust concerns as the season kicked off, but Williams is regarded as the best left tackle in the NFL for a reason.

Williams had a solid performance in the season opener against the New York Jets. The San Francisco tackle didn't allow a single pressure against the Jets on 33 pass blocking snaps, according to Next Gen Stats.

It was Williams' first game without allowing a single pressure since Week 3 of the 2022 season.

The 49ers have been decimated by injuries in the first few weeks of the 2024 season. Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and linebacker Curtis Robinson both suffered season-ending injuries.

Christian McCaffrey went to a specialist in Germany about his Achilles injury, indicating the gravity of his situation.

As for Sunday's game, Dee Winters, Jordan Elliott, and Talanoa Hufanga are all listed as questionable. It's certainly not an ideal situation for the the 49ers.

In spite of all the injuries, Purdy and tight end George Kittle are off the injury report and expected to play Sunday.
