SpaceX's Dragon Spacecraft Departs From Space Station With Four Astronauts; Watch

Four astronauts are on their way back home as SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft Endeavour has left the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday. It undocked from the orbital lab at 2:35 am IST and will make a splashdown off the coast of Florida at around 1 pm on Friday.

You can watch the splashdown during a live streaming on NASA's YouTube channel or X profile. The ISS handle will also stream the event.

Endeavour launched to the station on March 4 for the Crew-8 mission carrying NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps and Alexander Grebenkin of Russia.

Their return was delayed by several days due to unfavourable weather near the splashdown site in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Crew-8 was NASA's eighth crew rotation mission to the station. Its members have been replaced by astronauts of Crew-9 who arrived at ISS on September 30.

Unlike the normal four person crew, Crew-9 only had two astronauts - NASA's Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov - for they need to make room for Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore.

Williams and Wilmore flew to the ISS in early June for an eight day mission but their ride Starliner faced issues, leaving them stranded for months. NASA later decided to rescue them on a SpaceX capsule but they'll have to wait until Crew-9 mission ends in six months around February 2025.
